Jolly Rancher Remix

This ride opened in 1991 as Sidewinder, one of dozens of Vekoma boomerang shuttle coasters built at parks worldwide during that era. The boomerang format sends a single train forward through a vertical loop and cobra roll, hauls it backward up a second lift hill, and then releases it to run the same elements in reverse — a format that became a staple mid-tier thrill ride at parks that couldn't justify building a full-circuit coaster in the available footprint.

The ride operated under the Sidewinder name for roughly three decades before Hersheypark rebranded it as Jolly Rancher Remix in 2022, applying candy-themed graphics and color schemes tied to the Jolly Rancher brand without altering the underlying Vekoma track or layout in any structural way. That kind of theming refresh — reskinning an older ride with a licensed candy brand rather than replacing it — mirrors similar rebranding efforts the park has applied elsewhere as part of its broader Hershey-branding push.

Despite its age, the ride's forward-and-backward format still produces a distinctly different sensation from the park's other looping coasters, since riders experience the same inversions twice in a single cycle — once moving forward and once moving backward — which very few other coaster designs replicate.
