A held moment on a vertical edge, then a steep release — signature B&M dive machines.
Dive coasters use a holding brake or mechanism at the top of a near-vertical drop. The pause builds anticipation; the release is the headline.
Height on a dive machine is often the marketing number, but the drop angle and entry speed define the punch. Many layouts add low helices or turns right after the drop to keep energy high.
If you are nervous about heights, the held moment can feel longer than a continuous lift hill — knowing that is part of the ride helps.
