Pantherian

Kings Dominion opened the 2010s needing a flagship to match the giga-coaster arms race Cedar Point had started a decade earlier with Millennium Force. Intamin built Intimidator 305 as only the second complete-circuit giga coaster in North America, licensing NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt's name and "The Intimidator" nickname for a $25 million investment that was, at the time, the most expensive ride in park history.

The coaster's 300-foot first drop at 85 degrees produces some of the strongest sustained g-forces of any American coaster, so much so that the park rebuilt the first turn after its debut season specifically to reduce riders greying out or blacking out through the transition. Amusement Today named it Best New Roller Coaster for 2010, and it settled in as the park's signature attraction and the anchor of its East Coast super-hyper reputation for well over a decade.

That identity came apart in 2024 when the licensing agreement for Earnhardt's name and nickname expired. Kings Dominion stripped the Intimidator branding and ran the ride for a full season as the deliberately unbranded Project 305 while a permanent retheme was designed, mirroring a simultaneous rebrand of sister park Carowinds' Intimidator into Thunder Striker.

The coaster reopened in August 2025 as Pantherian, recast within the surrounding Jungle X-Pedition land as a mystical steel contraption housed inside a shrine to an ancient panther spirit — new orange track and black supports replacing the racing-inspired paint scheme, though the layout, drop, and record-setting speed are unchanged from 2010.
