Grover's Alpine Express

Busch Gardens Williamsburg's Sesame Street children's area got its own junior coaster a year before sister park Busch Gardens Tampa followed with an identical ride system of its own. German manufacturer Zierer supplied an off-the-shelf Force 190 model, themed here to Grover and installed in the park's Sesame Street Forest of Fun area under gentle wooded landscaping rather than the safari setting Tampa's Air Grover would later use for the same coaster hardware.

Grover's Alpine Express opened in 2009 with a compact circuit of small hills and turns designed around first-time riders, its lead car decorated with Grover's head the same way its Tampa twin would be built the following year. The ride's low height and speed profile made it one of the more accessible coaster credits in either Busch Gardens park's lineup, letting parents introduce very young children to a real chain-lift coaster experience without the intensity of the parks' larger steel rides.

Because Air Grover debuted the next year using the identical Zierer platform, Grover's Alpine Express effectively became the template installation for a ride system SeaWorld Parks would repeat across its portfolio, with only the surrounding land theming distinguishing the two versions.

Grover's Alpine Express remains a fixture of Williamsburg's Sesame Street area, giving the park's youngest visitors their own low-intensity introduction to roller coasters within a heavily character-branded setting.
