Puff the Little Fire Dragon has run in Kiddieland since 1985, giving generations of young Utah riders their first roller coaster credit on a scaled-down dragon-themed steel circuit. The compact layout climbs to just 18 feet before gentle drops and turns carry small trains across 679 feet of track at a top speed of 18 mph, intensity calibrated specifically for Lagoon's youngest guests. Its cheerful dragon theming and diminutive scale have made it a rite-of-passage ride for children well before they're tall enough for Cannibal or Colossus. Background

Two years after Colossus: The Fire Dragon gave Lagoon its adult-sized looping coaster, the park added a scaled-down kiddie counterpart in 1985, sharing a playful dragon theme with its much larger South Midway neighbor while sizing the ride entirely for young children.

Zierer built the compact steel circuit, climbing to just 18 feet before gentle drops and turns carry small trains across 679 feet of track at a top speed of 18 mph — intensity calibrated so far below Lagoon's adult coasters that it functions as many riders' literal first roller coaster.

Its cheerful, non-threatening dragon branding and diminutive scale have kept the ride essentially unchanged for four decades, even as the surrounding Kiddieland area gained newer additions like BomBora and The Bat.

Approaching its fortieth season, Puff the Little Fire Dragon remains a rite-of-passage ride for Utah children years before they're tall enough for Cannibal or Colossus, and one of Lagoon's most enduring family attractions.
