Background

Kings Island opened its fourth kids' coaster in 2001 inside a new Nickelodeon-themed area, tying the ride to a specific animated property the way it had already done with several Hanna-Barbera attractions.

Vekoma's Suspended Family Coaster model debuted as Rugrats Runaway Reptar, sending young riders through a double helix and a low pass beneath the station in cars suspended below the track, 49 feet above the ground at a gentle 26 mph top speed. When Cedar Fair rethemed the surrounding land from Nickelodeon Central to Planet Snoopy in 2010, the ride became Flying Ace Aerial Chase, recast around Snoopy's imagined dogfights with the Red Baron, with its support beams repainted from green to orange to match.

The ride kept the Flying Ace name and orange color scheme for more than a decade, long enough that multiple generations of young Kings Island guests knew it exclusively by that title even though the physical layout never changed.

Kings Island renamed the ride again in 2024 as Woodstock's Air Rail to fit the new Camp Snoopy land, repainting it green and brown. Guests between 44 and 76 inches tall can still ride without an adult, making it one of the park's most accessible suspended-coaster experiences regardless of which name is on the sign.
