AlpenFury opened in July 2025 as Canada's Wonderland's first new roller coaster since the Six Flags–Cedar Fair merger, and immediately became Canada's tallest, fastest, and longest launch coaster. Premier Rides built the steel coaster to launch trains directly out of the summit of Wonder Mountain, sending riders 164 feet into the air before a 3,281-foot circuit twists through nine inversions — more than any launch coaster in North America — at speeds up to 71 mph. The ride anchors Alpenfest, a fire-and-ice themed village built around Wonder Mountain that replaced the removed Xtreme Skyflyer attraction. As the park's newest and most inversion-heavy coaster, AlpenFury has quickly become a marquee attraction alongside Leviathan and Yukon Striker.

Background

Canada's Wonderland spent more than a year teasing its next major attraction after removing the Xtreme Skyflyer in March 2024, running passholder surveys as early as 2023 on concepts before settling on a launch coaster built to interact directly with Wonder Mountain.

Premier Rides was attached to the project by fall 2023, and on August 8, 2024 the park announced AlpenFury — a steel launch coaster that fires trains directly out of the mountain's summit, 164 feet into the air, before a 3,281-foot circuit twists through nine inversions, more than any launch coaster in North America, at speeds up to 71 mph. The ride became the park's 19th roller coaster and the fourth attraction built to interact directly with Wonder Mountain, following Bat, Time Warp, and Wonder Mountain's Guardian.

AlpenFury opened on July 12, 2025 as the centerpiece of Alpenfest, a new fire-and-ice themed village, and as Canada's Wonderland's first new roller coaster since the Six Flags–Cedar Fair merger took effect under the Six Flags name in mid-2024.

Marketed as Canada's tallest, fastest, and longest launch coaster, AlpenFury has quickly joined Leviathan and Yukon Striker as one of the park's three marquee modern steel coasters.
