Tubular steel track basics

Round rail stacked and welded — the default modern coaster structure.

Learn/How coasters work

Most steel coasters use tubular rail — steel pipe bent and welded into supports. The round profile carries multi-axis loads through wheels cleanly.

Box track (I-box) on RMC and some others allows different bracing and twist stiffness — enabling steeper elements.

Track is not uniform stiffness along the course — supports and spans change how vibration transmits to the train.

Seeing track fabrication explains why off-site manufacturing and precision bending matter for smooth transitions.
