How to read an element list
Translate loops, airtime hills, and launches on a coaster page into what the ride will actually feel like.
Reading the stats
An element list is a sequence of forces, not a trophy case. Read it in order: what happens after the lift or launch, where airtime clusters, and whether inversions are spaced or stacked.
Inversion count alone misleads — five smooth corkscrews feel different from two snappy loops with no recovery. Airtime hills and camelbacks signal negative-G pacing. Launches, top hats, and spikes point to abrupt energy changes. An MCBR mid-list often splits the ride into two acts.
On Coaster Atlas, pair the list with height, speed, and manufacturer. Then watch a short POV if you still cannot picture the pacing. The goal is prediction, not memorizing names.
