Block zones and train spacing
Dividing the track into sections so two trains never collide — physics meets software.
Long coasters split into block zones separated by brakes or lifts. Only one train occupies a zone at a time; sensors confirm clearance before the next train enters.
If you stop on the course, you are usually in a block waiting for downstream clearance — not “broken,” but sequenced.
Mid-course brake runs (MCBRs) often mark block boundaries. They can feel like an interruption but are core to capacity and safety on multi-train coasters.
Single-train coasters still use braking zones for emergency stops.
